The ozone-activated carbon is a commonly used technology in drinking water treatment, which can remove organic pollutants and ammonia nitrogen effectively of the waterbody. This subject was supported by the high taste and high ozone bromide Yellow River Reservoir Optimization of biological activated carbon technology research and demonstration, leading under the major science and technology projects of national water pollution control and management (2008ZX07422-004). With O3/BAC technology, hydrogen peroxide catalytic ozonation was used on the Yellow River water depth treatment.In order to provide a theoretical basis project and technical guidance for the demonstration, the type of activated carbon was determined, the O3/H2O2 dosage and the dosing point of hydrogen peroxide were optimized and the operational parameters was put forword.Activated Carbon preferred test shows that activated carbon which has particle size of 30 to 50 has a higher removal efficiency than the particle size of 20 to 30,10 to 20.The pilot study get results as following:(1) When the molar ratio of H2O2/O3 is 1∶1,the removal efficiencies of CODMn, TOC and UV254 by the combined process are 39.39% 23.15% and 56.66%, much better than that the molar ratio of H2O2/O3 is 0.5∶1 and 1.5∶1. (2)When adding hydrogen peroxide in the first ozone column, the removal efficiencies of CODMn, TOC and UV254 by the combined process are 53.55%.37.5% and 70.74%, better than the dosage of hydrogen peroxide in front of three ozone column each. (3)The best ozone dosage on the Yellow River water is 2 mg/L. (4) The long-running of combined process show that it can maintain a good result when the turbidity lower than 4NTU. (5)The biomass of the lower in activated carbon filter is 47.57nmolp/g when the upper is 19.3nmolp/g,so the biomass increased with the carbon layer depth increases.(6) The pilot activated carbon column recoil cycle is select for 50 days.(7) Combination process has a good ability on the removal of DBPs.(8) O3/H2O2 advanced oxidation technology make the BDOC of Yellow River water increased from 0.388mg/L to 0.77 mg/L, an increase of 98.45% and an increase of 38.45% more than ozonation alone, the activated carbon filter make the BDOC decreased to 0.298 mg /L, the quality of finished water meets drinking water health standard (GB5749-2006), thus ensuring the safety of the water quality.
