Because of its advantages such as simple procedure and lower cost, nano structure TiOx has become one of the best choice for the photovoltaic field. Nano structure TiOx has already played an important role in the Dye sensed solar cell field, but the report is still very limited in the polymer organic solar cell field. How to use this kind of material to enhance the performance of the P3HT:PCBM solar cell is a problem. Among lots of nano structure TiOx, TiOx paste, TiOx nanotube and TiOx sol-gel are the most common ones to be used in solar cell research. In this thesis, we firstly made three kinds of TiOx film and compared their characteristics. Then we used TiOx as the modification layer of cathode in polymer organic solar devices to improve their performance..This thesis consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction of background and meaning of this study. This part is concentrated on the development of nano structure TiOx, introduces different structure and methods to fabricate nano TiOx..In the second part, we used different methods to make different nano-structured TiOx films, and analyzed their procedure and characteristics. Take the SEM photo of the TiOx surfaces and then study the way to adjust the thickness of the fims.In the third part, the three kinds of structure TiOx thin film were applied to the polymer solar devices. ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/Al is chosen as conventional sructure, and then add the TiOx as the modification layer between the active layer and metal cathode. Thus tested the parameters and the final efficiencies of these devices and then compare the results, trying to find the influences of these TiOx thin film added into the cells and analyze possible reasons, provide advises for the future application of these TiOx thin films to enhance the performance of the solar cells.The final part draw the conclusions of this thesis and provide the outlook for this research field in the future.The innovation of these paper:The analysis of the different methods to make the nano-structured TiOx thin film, found the reason and solution of the problems in making the films; The application of these TiOx thin film into the P3HT:PCBM devices, compare and analyze the result of their influence on the devices. Observed the enhancement of the parameters of the OPV by sol-gel TiOx thin film, and then found the relation between the thickness of sol-gel TiOx film and the performance of the OPV devices, and the best thickness of this layer is19nm. Through this method, the efficiency of the cell was improved from3.01%to3.37%.
