ABSTRACT:With the development of microelectronics technology, the miniaturization of portable devices increases and the demand of lithium battery grows. The management of charging system has great significance to lithium battery, because its performance directly impacts battery cycle life. This thesis uses Qualcomm MDM6085chip, the most widely used electronic devices, to design intelligent lithium battery charging system, which can monitor the voltage, current and temperature in charging,determine the abnormalities such as bad charger, bad battery and the excess battery temperature, and adjust the charging strategy to achieve the intelligent control of charging process.The content of this paper divides into the following parts:1. Study the current status of applications based on lithium battery charging technology, analyze the method of charging protection,discuss the problems in battery charging, and determine the goal the charging system achieve.2. According to the optimal performance index, choose the MDM6085and BQ24152as the main chip and chip of controlling charge,and give a detailed description of the design of intelligent charge control and method of implementation.3. Study the affection of the different types of battery charger, design different charging scheme,and propose method improvement program of three stage charging-trickle current, constant current and constant voltage,based on the consideration of efficiency and safety.4. Propose many anomaly detecting methods, taking into account the increases of parameter, the widen range of options in special applications, increase stop complex overcharge protection under the unusual circumstances,and avoid security issues under abnormalities recurring.The functions of this system have been proved to be practical under the test. Smart battery charging system achieve the intelligent control of charging process with improved charging safety, shorten charging time and extend battery life.
