The stability of the road foundation directly determine the quality of the highway.In mineral industry developed provinces, such as Shanxi Province, highwayconstruction might need to cross the influenced range of underground coal goaf. Inorder to avoid the instable goaf crumbling down which would cause deformation andfailure to the roadbed,the stability evaluation of the goaf must be conducted inadvance, and appropriate means of treatment and control should be taken. After thegoaf governance, there must set settlement and deformation monitoring system, andcarry on roadbed forecasting analysis. Once any abnormal conditions come out, itshould take remedial measures to ensure highway operation safely。This paper takes Yangquan-Yu xian highway roadbed construction as theresearch background,which heads from Yangquan city toward yu city in ShanxiProvince. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the stability of the goaf and togovern it. So we carry out the research on the highway foundation settlement anddeformation forecast analysis methods, and the research on development of thesettlement and deformation forecast analysis software. And the achievement ofresearching will eventually apply to the Yang-Yu highway subgrade project。This article divides the Goaf overburden into three zones, and discusses theGoaf overburden subsidence mechanism and their influence to the highwayfoundation stability. And it introduced the methods of goaf stability analysis and thequality control measure. It also introduced six methods of highway roadbed settlementand deformation prediction which include curve-fitting method. In this paper, thecurve-fitting method, which’s used quite widely, is detailed studied and havederivation of equation. Based on this, the software named “highway underlying goafsubgrade deformation forecasting analysis system” has been studied, planned anddeveloped. This software can do the sorting and calculation of the deformationmeasured data, after this it can predict and evaluate the tendency of settlement and deformation. At last, it can output relatively complete reports of roadbed settlementand deformation. Generally this software can make the work of post-constructionsettlement and deformation prediction more simplified and convenient.The last part of this article introduced the basic situation of the Yang-Yuhighway construction. Based on the investigation, it completed the analysis andevaluation of the roadbed goaf, planned the governance program. Combined withsubsequent monitoring results, it completed the prediction and evaluation of thepost-construction settlement and deformation through the software that justdeveloped.
