Landscape is a mosaic of various patches with different types, shapes and sizes. These patches use thematrix as a background, directly or indirectly connected by the corridors. Corridor is a narrow strip, itslinear or banded structure in the landscape makes it different from both sides of the adjacent environmentsin the matrix. Most of the corridors are linear landscape units. Almost all of the landscapes can besegmented and also connected by corridors that the corridor has double effects of the channel andseparateness on landscapes.The pattern and dynamics of corridor has a strong impact on the landscape ecological process. In thestudies of landscape dynamics of the lower reach of the Yellow River agricultural area, the distributions ofthe corridor and the quality of the corridor structure are important indexes in the evaluation of theagro-ecosystems structure. With the accelerated development of agriculture in the Yellow River watershed,the corridor pattern in the agricultural area showed significant changes. The studies about corridor aremostly concentrated in urban planning and urban tourism, however, there are few studies focus on thecounty corridors of agro-ecosystem.The development of corridor research is more and more by the means of “3S” technology, especiallyin the studies of extraction and analysis of corridors at the medium–small scale and the studies of corridorpattern in different times, which are largely implemented by the RS and GIS. Using the geographicinformation system and remote sensing technology especially its space analysis function to do the studiesof the corridor pattern and structure in agricultural area, has more advantages than the traditional interpretation analysis methods that it will become an important technical means for the study of corridorlandscape.This paper selected the Fengqiu County as study area. Using1:50000topographic map in1975and2007,0.5m resolution remote sensing aerial photos as the main data source, combined with the threeLandsat TM images (1990,2000and2009) of the study area and other geographic data, to study thecurrent pattern of corridor landscape and its dynamic changes in the agricultural area by using the GIS andRS technology and also other analysis techniques. The study results are as follows:(1)Amajor feature of the corridor pattern in the lower reach of agriculture landscape in the YellowRiver watershed is significantly crowded corridor system, which includes road corridor, ditch corridor,hedge corridor and river corridor.(2)In study area, the total length and the total density of the corridor are about6521.93km and14.91km/km2respectively. The study results showed that the road and hedge are the main corridor types,and compared with other corridors the road is the longest and thickest corridor type in the study area. Theagricultural landscape pattern has significant changes in the past20years that the urban and woodlandlandscapes largely expanded while the farmland landscape showed decreased situation.(3)The complexity of the corridor structure was analyzed by using the corridor structure index. Thestudy results showed that the connectivity and circuitry of corridors in the study area are little lower. Theroad corridor connectivity and circuitry was higher than other types of corridor, while the ditch corridorhas the lowest connectivity and circuitry and its circuitry is almost zero. The study area has a simplecorridor structure that it can’t facilitate the flowing of the substance and energy, the migration of species,and even the protection of species diversity. (4)According to the field investigation, the species distribution data of different corridor types wasobtained. And the study results showed that the species distributed in the ditch corridor were more than thespecies in the road corridor, and the connectivity and circuitry of the corridor showed significantlycorrelated with the species diversity.(5)By using theARCGIS and ERDAS software and the artificial vector, the related spatial analysiswas done in the Spatial Analysis module. The study result indicated that this analysis method can befeasibly applied in the research of the corridor landscape pattern and dynamics in the agricultural area.Finally, the study results suggest that there was significant correlation between the corridor patternand the whole agricultural landscape pattern in the lower reach of the agricultural area of the Yellow Riverwatershed. By analyzing the pattern and dynamics of the corridor and its structure system, the developmentsituation of the corridor landscape in the study area was clearly understand. The study results will helpresearchers propose useful suggestions for optimizing the corridor patterns and functions, and finallyimprove the ecological benefits of the whole agricultural landscape in the study area。...
