According to the statistic data, recent years average billions of money lost in geologic hazards annually, among them, large-scale landslide brought enormous loss ratio to construction and daily life of people. Large-scale landslide retaining by conventional anti-slide structures is effective but not suitable for landslide with special geological condition considering the technical and economical requirement, therefore, landslide control technology innovation and new retaining structure developing targeted for landslide with special geological condition are an urgent task for scientific workers.Considering the difficulty landslide, with special geological condition, controlling by conventional anti-slide structure, a new anti-slide retaining structure-arch structure is put forward. The feasibility and practicability of the arch structure are studied by theoretical analysis, three-dimension numeral simulation, engineering case study. The main study results are as follows:(1)’Deep trough shape’landslide has characteristics of curved hinder margin, deep covering layer, long sliding plane, strong sliding force and stable bedrock among the landslide, controlling this type of landslide with traditional anti-slide retaining structure like cantilevered anti-slide pile and anchor anti-slide pile has shortcoming of weak globality, high construction cost and construction difficulties. By working principle analysis of the three retaining structures, the arch structure is much better in technology and economy.(2) On the basis of the arch structure anti-slide mechanism, theoretical formula is derived through fundamental principles of material mechanics and structural mechanics, formula factor impact analysis is carried to evaluate the structure anti-slide capacity. Besides, the new retaining structure has technological and economical advantages through relative analysis with traditional retaining structures in internal force and construction cost.(3) Three-dimension numeral simulation software ABAQUS is used to analyze the new anti-slide retaining structure in landslide control, factors which effect anti-slide capacity is analyzed, in which the results show that its numeral simulation and theoretical calculation results are basically the same, the partial difference is caused by connect between pile-top and beam hinge joint simplify in theoretical calculation and connect between pile-top and beam fixation joint in numeral simulation. Beside, the pile internal force of the new structure is smaller than the traditional structure through relative analysis between them.(4)’Filling the slope toe with the new structure’is applied to control the high slope of the12#landslide hinder margin in Panzhihua airport, which restrained the slope deformation very good. Moreover, numeral simulation is applied to analyze the effect in controlling the slope between cantilevered anti-slide piles and the new structure, and the results show that the pile-top displacement and pile internal force are small than the cantilevered anti-slide piles, the pile-top connection beam undertakes part of the landslide thrust and displays its arch space effect, which prove that the new anti-slide retaining structure is suitable for similar landslide (slope).
