In this paper, it studies and discussies the carbon fiber composite materials vehicle hood of the500km/h high-speed test train. On the basis of drawing on the carbon fiber composite materials structure design and strength analysis method at home and abroad, according to the characteristics of the high specific strength and stiffness of the carbon fiber composite materials, the new carbon fiber composite materials vehicle hood is designed with vacuum infusion molding process characteristics and performance of existing car hood. Under the requirements of refering to the IEC61373-1999《Railway Rolling Stock Equipment Shock and Vibration Testing Standards》 and GB/T3317-2006《Electric Locomotive General Technical Conditions》, the strength and deformation of the vehicle hood is calculated and analysed on the conditions of the impaction, air movement load case, and the end compression. According to the simulation result, the CFRP vehicle hood is produced with the vacuum infusion process methods; and it is tested under the end compression of137KN. The test result shows that this mechanical properties of the structure meets the requirements. Therefore, the overall design of the vehicle hood is reasonable, and the computational analysis of this structure is accurate. But also it proved that the numerical simulation can provide a meaningful basis for guiding the engineering applications of composite material.The specific contents of this article are as follows:(1)It summarizes the development and research of the theoretical analysis and engineering applications of composite materials at home and abroad.what’s more, it analysizes and summarizes for the main load-bearing parts of composite materials in high-speed trains as well as the application of non-main load-bearing parts. It describes the great significant and feasibile of carbon fiber composite materials which is applied to the500km/h high-speed test train hood.(2) It briefly discusses the basic theory of mechanics of composite materials, including anisotropic elasticity which is based on the elastic properties of the elastic properties of single-layer board and laminates. Between composite materials and isotropic materials, the elastic properties of composite materials are very complex. Accurating kNowledge of the elastic properties of single-layer board and laminates will provide an important theoretical basis and technical support for the development and application of composite materials.(3) There is a brief analysis of the methods and processes of composite material in ANSYS. According to the elastic properties of typical laminates, there is an example for a simple symmetric laminates by x, y direction tension. By the theoretical calculation of the analytical method and the simulation calculation of the finite element method, the axial stress and off-axis stress of the layers are obtained, and the relative error is less than0.63%by comparison of the two methods. Therefore, we can prove the rationality and reliability of the simulation results of the finite element method, and also make finite element analysis of the CFRP vehicle hood of the high-speed test train by using ANSYS software.(4) In order to pursue the higher train speed and maintain the overall streamline, it changes the two opening and closing vehicle hood into the upper and lower separation, so that it not only helps to improve the connection strength between the lower cover body and body, but also enhances the capabilities of removing obstacles. At the meantime, the demolition is very convenien. It can save more energy compared to the previous scrapped vehicle hood. According to the external shape, the internal connection to the requirements, and loading conditions of the high-speed train vehicle hood, the new carbon fiber composite materials vehicle hood is designed. According to the requirements of refering to the IEC61373-1999《Railway Rolling Stock Equipment Shock and Vibration Testing Standards》 and GB/T3317-2006《Electric Locomotive General Technical Conditions》, the strength and deformation of the vehicle hood is calculated and analysed on the conditions of the five impact conditions, a air movement load case, and a end compression condition. The analysis results show that the CFRP vehicle hood of the high-speed train meets strength requirements of two standards. According to the simulation result, the CFRP vehicle hood is produced with the vacuum infusion process methods; and it is tested under the end compression of137KN. The test result shows that this mechanical properties of the structure meets the requirements.
