Recently, with the rapid development of the industry in the world, the centrifugal compressor has indeed come to a very important position gradually. However, in the actual operation of a centrifugal compressor, blades fracture frequently for a variety of reasons. Such as the accidental falling of some objects into the impeller internal, as well as the chemical corrosion of the acidic medium, but the most common cause is the unreasonable design of the blades. If the blades fracture caused by this reason, fluid researchers have to be required to analyze the blade flow in order to identify the problem and resort the optimization to a final solution. In this paper, the blade failure of one compressor in operation was analyzed. According to reliable factory information, blade fracture of several same types of compressors has also occurred. Initially concluded that the blade fracture shroud due to the unreasonable design, leading to the blade fracture accident.Definitely do not Know which degrees the guide vanes were opening when the damage occurred, so I need to simulate the flow of the centrifugal compressor impeller and guide vanes in all design opening with the commercial CFD software, analyze the flow in all of possible operating conditions, finally identify and deal with the problem to be a solution. The final simulation results indicate that:when the guide vanes were opened in-20degree in a small flow, the flow swirl occurred near the blade tip. The flow swirl may be the just reason which caused the blades fracture. Then unstable flow feathers and its effect on the fatigue failure of the blade were investigated. Results indicate that large pressure oscillation may contribute greatly to the fatigue failure of the blade. This analysis may provide a solid base for the dynamic analysis of the fatigue failure of the centrifugal compressor blades to solve the actual problems for the factory.
