Both the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden in Chinese traditional culture are Bright pearl in the Orient and the two things mentioned above exist inevitable relationship. The research about both mentioned above with Scholars both at home and abroad is abundant. But the relationship existing them is lack in order to further discussing on the contact, this paper selected the most representative of calligraphy---cursive, and analyzed the relationship of the Art of Calligraphy and Space layout in Chinese classical garden. The purpose of this paper is extracting the modern landscape design inspiration via researching the contact at the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, and then combining Traditional culture and the modern landscape design.First, this paper Points out the Overview of art with the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, such as the development history, means of artistic expression and Composing characteristics, explores the intentional headstream of the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden is also " Confucianism Buddhism and Taoism "and "the same headstream to calligraphy and drawing, the same root to drawing and garden". Taking the work of Wen Zhengming、Zhang Jingxiu and etc for example, this paper special analyzed the relationship of The creation subject, intension and content in the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, emphasized the point of scholar for garden, garden for scholar also.Secondly,for exploring the relationship of the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, the paper analyzed element, technique layout and spatial array in them.Thirdly,this paper took such as Huai Su,Zhang Xu’s works for example,analysing the relationship of the cursive’s primary techniques that including contrast, set off, Structure, blank space and etc and the primary techniques that applying in creating classical garden, including spatial contrast, wall cover, rhythm of garden road and applying form of water space, and also anglicizing the relationship of spatial layout of the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, exploring three Design inspiration about main architectural complex and spatial water:embedded,paralleled type and half round type. This paper researched the relationship of cursive’s composition and spatial combination of classical garden, via characteristics and functions of cursive’s composition, extended the Design inspiration of pavilion and garden road’s Combination form. The last, Combining with case, the paper gained the conclusion that the road should cater to the pavilion, and point out remake measure.Using methods including hypothesis, and example testifying hypothesis, this paper researched the relationship of the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, and then gained corresponding Design inspiration.The paper laid the root for the research of the relationship of the Art of Calligraphy and Chinese classical garden, and offer Research ideas and Practice foundation to the combination of Calligraphy theory and modern Landscape design.
