With the popularity of the International Industrial Container Transport System in the coastal ports,the inland container transport of the national primary、secondary ports and the railway is also rapid development.There is no doubt that it makes the unpowered container spreader of the low investment in equipment design and manufacturing, and the simple operation and maintenance has a wide range of prospects and fields.Without the power provided by the hydraulic control system and other active devices except Gravity, the unpowered container spreader drive the rotary lock piece rotation by means of the lifting movement of the hook which is at the collection point of the four lifting slings,and drive twist locks to be closed and unlocked through the complex transmission. It can be seen that it converts the intermittently up and down movement of the hook into the twist lock rotation, and the movement planes of the main driven part and the follower are perpendicular, which is inevitable to make use of less common space agencies to meet the movement requirements of the driving, the follower.Visibly the key to the entire container spreader operating mechanism is this highly complex and abstract space mechanism, and its space trajectory is too difficult to achieve. This paper sets type spatial crank and rocker RSSR mechanism to achieve the two components movement in two perpendicular planes, which meets fully the trajectory of the unpowered container spreader, and there is no intermittent movement.It’s more in line with the guidelines of the design, manufacture and work in security and reliability, etc.With the Virtual Prototype Technology widely used in the engineering practice, this article uses the Virtual Prototype Technology into the design, assembly and analysis of the entire operating mechanism. Based on the CAD/CAE mainstream software, not only to provide a good human-computer interactive interface, but also the user can adjust or deal by themslves with the results of system analysis when to enter the parameters. Because of avoiding many human factors, that improves the reliability and efficiency of the design analysis, it not only will reduce largely the artificial workload in design, but also substantially short product R&D cycle and cut the cost of the design and manufacture.The main research content of the paper is as follows:1) By the analysis of the entire rate process of container spreader, design a set of mechanism to meet functional requirements of the unpowered container spreader;2) Using the Equivalent Plane Mechanism Act to design extremely complex spatial linkage which is related to the organization,and outputting the results of theoretical analysis by the mathematical software MATLAB;3) Using Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems ADAMS software to make space linkage mechanism kinematic analysis and post-processing (PostProcessor), and meantime verifying whether the design purpose is achieved;4) Using3D modeling software Pro/ENGINEER to finish the model of theoperating mechanism,and conduct the mechanism kinematic analysis by itsMechanism Module;5) With the professional tolerance analysis system CETOL6σ software, finishingthe tolerance analysis of the complex tolerance allocation problem in theoperating mechanism design of unpowered container spreader.
