With the exploitation of marine resources, the range of human activities extended to the deepwater or ultra deepwater. To ensure the safe operation of the ship platform in the evil marine environment, new requirements of positioning technology should be proposed, including positioning technology. The Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS) is not subject to restrictions on water depth, located quickly, operated easily, etc, so the DPS was widely used. The DPS resists against the environmental disturbances with the help of optimal allocation of power on its own. The aim of the system is to control the ship platform on a required position.Wave load is the main environment load in deepwater platform for positioning system. The second-order wave force is considered primarily for the wave force in the design and application for Dynamic Positioning Systems of ships.In the paper, the calculation of the second-order wave force for ocean floating structures is investigated. The main work has the following points mainly:(1) We review the present studying state for the theoretical calculation method of the second-order wave force for the world;(2) We analysis the theory of the second-order wave force;(3) We calculate the second-order wave force of platform supply vessel equipped with Dynamic Positioning Systems for SESAM system method, then compare and analysis the calculation results.
