The progressive collapse of building structures often leads to severe property damages and serious casualties, which significantly impacts society through endangering public safety. This has raised widespread concern in society and academia. Large-span spatial structures, which are characterized by architectural beauty, financial affordability and size, are widely used in stadiums, convention centers. large public buildings such as airports, and other special constructions such as aircraft hangars and dry coal sheds. Some have even become local landmarks and have a huge influence on society. If these buildings progressively collapses, the damages would be enormous. Currently, researches on progressive collapse of architectures are primarily focused on frame structures as opposed to steel grid structures, thus minimal progress has been made to theoretical research.In the thesis, I investigate a specific toll station shed of steel grid structure in Jiangxi, and design the steel grid structure in conventional ways. I also analyze the variety of results due to changes in the positioning of the components subject to initial failure. A brief outline is as follows:①The engineering design of the steel grid structure:Using MSTCAD software. I design our province’s steel grid structure based on the conventional methods and relevant guidelines.②The statistical analysis of the performance of anti-progressive collapse:I use ANSYS software to change the positioning and parameters of the components subject to initial failure, and simulate the progressive collapse sequence of steel grid structure. With large volumes of data analysis, I analyze the re-distribution of internal forces, the collapse modes and the main influential factors, thereby unveiling the performance and characteristics of anti-progressive collapse of steel grid structure.③I will propose the concept and evaluation criteria of sensitive levers and key levers, and develop the evaluation guidelines of structural safety performance of steel grid structures.
