In the last decade, indoor air quality problems caused by volatile organic compounds brought a great challenge to scientists, industry products and consumers.Aiming at the problem, Germany, America, Japan and some European countries and industrial organizations developed all kinds of eco-label to restriction on the materials release harmful substances, to control the concentration of harmful substances and protect the health of consumers. Our government pay more and more attention to people’s living environment and issue a number of industries VOC emission standards, but indoor decorating and refurbishing materials-limit of VOC emission of wood-based panels and finishing products start relatively late, it has not yet promulgated and implementation of the relevant limit standards. So, developing the standard<indoor decorating and refurbishing materials-limit of VOC emission of wood-based panels and finishing products> is the urgent problem in the construction and development of environmentally friendly society. The paper embark on the international existing VOC emission limit standards, analyze the characteristics of each standard, develop the forestry standard suitable for China’s wood-based panel industry, determine the exact experimental conditions. The test choose the typical wood-based panel and products sold in market, using1m3small-scale environmental chamber determines VOC emission from boards, and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC), provide reliable data support for the development of the forestry standars. The main conclusion obtained as followed:1. According to the analysis of the existing standards and labeling system, the limit guideline of the forestry standard reference and adopt the guideline of toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene and acetaldehyde in the appendix6of JIS A1901:2009<Determination of the emission of volatile organic compounds and aldehydes for building products-Small chamber method>, and increasing the limit guideline of TVOC. The standard does not include the limit value of formaldehyde.2. Determine the tect conditions of the forestry standard, the temperatuare of the environment chamber was (28±1)℃, the relative humidity was (50±5)%, the air exchange rate was (0.5±0.05) h-1, the loading rate was2.5±0.05m2/m3and1.0±0.05m2/m3. The actual loading rate could be determined through consultation by both supply and demand according to the purpose of testing. The products that meet the correlation limit standard should stick the corresponding limit logo EL2.5or EL1.0based on the different loading rate.3. VOC emission from particleboard sold in market were main benzenes, aldehydes and ketones, TVOC total release level was about50μg/m3, the benzenes equilibrium concentration was low, except benzenes, there were only a few n-undecaneand and butyl acetate in VOC emission from particleboards, and the equilibrium concentration of the two substances was very low. The acetaldehyde equilibrium concentration was the biggest in the aldehydes and ketones compounds. The main pollutants emitting from laminated floorings was TVOC, because of the low concentration of TVOC, we could not qualitative the individual VOC. The concentration of TVOC emission from plywood, HDF and blockboard are quite different, especially which emited from HDF was relatively high. The TVOC release amount of the three boards from high to low was HDF, plywood and blockboard, orderly. Acetaldehyde and acetone were the main aldehydes and ketones emission from boards, there were only small amount benzenes in HDF, we detected no individual VOC in plywood and blockboard. VOC emission from facing material were mainly benzene series and aldehyde compounds, which from melamine finishing density board waree far less than paint facing density board, both kinds of veneers released same specie benzenes, but percentage content of benzene components were different. The main volatile organic compounds we detected in the bookbase sold in market were formaldehyde and TVOC, and the concentrations are quite high. There were still a small amount of pentanal and hexanal and a little butyraldehyde, acetone, acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde. The individual VOC emission from bookbase was main xylene, butylacetate and undecan.4. When the n/1was1.0h-1m-2m3, all the boards met the limit standard. When the n/1was0.5h-1m-2m3, most boards met the limit standard, but there were a small part of the boards could not meet the limit stsndsrd. And when the n/1was0.2h-1m-2m3, only a small number of high quality boards could meet the limit standard.
