With the progress of science and technology and the increasing requirements for the quality of human’s life, the function of the building and its structure form become more and more complex and rich, at the same time, a large number of lightweight and high strength new building materials are continually being applied to the new constructions, people prefer to choose the light, soft, long-span structures. In the actual process, these light long-span structures suffer excessive vibrations even resonance under human activities because of its low stiffness, natural frequency and damping. The vibration although generally will not cause structure security problems, but will make occupants discomfort, nervous or panic. This thesis analyses the long span floor’s vibration response located on the second floor of Changsha South Railway Station, and tests its dynamic property and response under uncontrolled and controlled situation respectively. The main contents and conclusions are shown as follow:1. Introduce the dynamic property analytical methods for long span structure, then summarize the vibration control standards from different courtiers and choose an appropriate one to evaluate the dynamic response of the long span floor in Changsha South Railway Station under human activities.2. Through the modal analysis and time history analysis by using the finite element analysis software SAP2000for the floor and then a filed dynamic test, The analysis and test results show that the natural frequency of original design is close to human walk’s, which may leads excessive and annoying vertical vibration. It is necessary to take measures to reduce vibration as this figure is above the limit of human comfortableness.3. After applied a tuned mass damper (TMD) system as the vibration control measure, analyze and test the floor again. It is shown that this TMD system has a significant effect on vibration reduction and the vibration decreasing ratio is up to54%. 4. Through the comparison between the analysis and test result, the control measure achieves an ideal effect on practical and economical use.
