Greenway Networks Built Based On GIS In The Changsha Great West River Pilot Area

Greenway construction is very important for improving the ecological, urban form,history and culture education of city, and also it is considered to be one of the hottestecological research points. However, for the most places of our country, greenway’splanning method can’t be popularized due to the defect of excessive subjectivity,shortage of scientificity and rationality. The paper first makes a summarize on theconcept, development and classification of greenway, then selects The Great WestRiver Pilot Area as the research object, and adopts suitability analysis and networkanalysis method to research and finish the city greenway construction throughformulated calculation and spatial analysis function of GIS. And the paper makes thisproject as an example to research the greenway planning and designing.The result of the study shows that the nodes design through suitability analysis isconsidered to be more eco-efficiency and using function, and network analysis isdeemed to optimize the network resource allocation and utilization because of itseconomic benefits and comprehensive utilization. So the above two methods usedtogether would ensure the design method to be more scientificity and rationality; andthe methods used in the paper should be promoted widely for the internal greenwaynetwork built in the future because of less demanding on the data, simplifiedoperation, scientific evaluation process as well as having clearly results; the paperadopts different standards in the width, vegetation, node and pavement design toillustrate the designing method and criterion of greenway construction, and solve theshortage existed in the past.At the same time, the paper plans three greenway networks in The Pilot Areabased on general features and each own characteristics. The above three greenwaynetworks are all based on their typical characteristic beside general feature, and eachone has different design specifications. The Great West River Pilot Area locates in thewest of Changsha city, as Two-oriented society demonstration area of the Changsha,Zhuzhou and Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration, would be a representative and modeltype. The greenway project and the theoretical used in the paper can also be promotedimitation for The Two-oriented society demonstration area’s greenway project in thefuture for our country. Therefore it will offer great help for greenway development inChina.
