When moving along, the auto is activated by various types of loads, which leadto a complex loading situation. Therefore, its performance requirements should beensured, such as reliability and security. Reliability requirement is mainly ensured byenhancing the strength of structure. At present, the static linear method has beenmaturely used in the strength analysis of vehicle structure and widely accepted byauto manufacturers. However, it is becoming difficult for design requirements toadopt static linear method only as the market competition is becoming severeincreasingly. In this paper, the whole auto model is created and simulated togetherwith virtual proving road. The transient responses of components are obtained finallyand then fatigue life of structure is calculated based on them.The development progress of fatigue theory is reviewed first in the paper, andthen a brief introduction of fatigue study actuality is given. The BIW, suspension, tireand road model are created and validated respectively using FEM and are assembledfinally into a VPG model. According to GB/T12678-90, reliable roads of rank C andE are created and validated by harmonic overlying method respectively as street trunkline and rough road. The car is activated from road roughness by defining contactbetween the road and the tires. Fatigue analysis of auto opening positions is conductedunder the reliable roads. A solution is presented aimed at the crack of the rod mount ofrear suspension. The validation of the solution is ensured by the comparison of fatiguelife between the two schemes.In the paper, modeling and analysis, basic theory involved is introduced overall,then the progress of VPG modeling is accounted in detail and model validation ispassed at the same time. In the end, the analysis result turns to be agreed with realityin the main, which is of some practical applicability.
