With the increased development of automobile market, the growth of carownership in China is extremely fast and the crash safety attracts more and moreattention. Because of the costly physical car experiments, difficult collection ofexperiments’ data and long cycle of the product development, effective finite elementanalysis and simulation becomes more and more popular and widely used in vehicledesign.vehicle crash simulation is complicated and its results are influenced by manydifferent factors. How to gain an accurate result with reasonable time is the hotspot ofcrash simulation all the time. This paper described the common factors of theaccuracy of crash simulation, and based on actual project experience, Focuses on theresearch of important factors such as the simulation method of spotweld, the strainrate effect of materials and the stamping results.For the requirements of vehicle crashworthiness simulation, the articles studiesthe spot weld simulation methods, material strain rate effect and metal stampingresults for front impact simulation. Through the analysis of the actual stress state ofspot weld, proposes a more accurate spot weld model, this solid element assembliesspot weld model in simulation and prediction spot weld failure has very big advantage,Research strain rate characteristics of elastic-plastic materials, and through theanalysis to determine the elastic-plastic material strain rate effect had great influenceon the crash performance, so it must be taken into consideration in the impact model,Through simple thin-walled beam crash test analysis and comparison, ensuringmaterials stamping results have big effect at the front impact results, it suggest that invehicle crash simulation are considered the metal stamping effect using one stepmethod.Research results show that in a minibus body development of vehicle crashsimulation analysis, using the application of new spot weld model, consideringmaterial strain rate effect, considering the stamping influence can greatly improveFEA model accuracy, and it has a great help to the vehicle crashworthinessdevelopment. The vehicle front impact tests results show that the FEA modelconsidering three factors can accurately predict experimental results,thus making thefinal body structure optimization scheme accurately and efficiently.
