With the deepening of the global energy crisis, the living environment is deteriorating, low-emission or no emission electric vehicles come into being. The driving range of the pure electric car is limited by the battery capacity constraints,so it is not good enough to replace conventional vehicle. Hybrid vehicles, especially the Plug-In hybrid vehicles to a certain extent solve the mileage problem, so that electric vehicles have a wider use of space.Whatever in pure electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles, the battery is beyond reproach to be the performance guarantee, the most appropriate use of large energy density of lithium because of its active chemical properties, when in use should be strictly control the temperature and voltage of the battery, which battery management system as the core module of the electric car. This design is to design a Plug-In hybrid electric vehicle battery management system. This discourse discusses the importance of the battery management system in the field of electric vehicles, and describes the current situation of domestic and international research in this area first; Second the details about the top and underlying of the battery management system’s design portion of the hardware, briefly described in the corresponding embedding software design process; This paper mainly describes the design method of the CAN-BootLoader; Finally, the key features for performance testing. This article in the second chapter analyzes the top of the battery management system, the underlying hardware design, power bus voltage detection, current detection, insulation testing, single battery detection, battery temperature sensing, battery out of touch detection function; the third chapter a brief description ofhardware-related software development, process; this article described in detail in Chapter IV-the BootLoader design method based on MC9S12XS series; listed at the end of the experimental data on the key features of battery management.
