In order to research the reducing consumption technology of hydraulic torque converter, the paper established the geometric model by Reverse design method.And a whole flow passage model for the cascade system is established and3D transient numerical simulation on the internal flow field of hydrodynamic torque converter is performed by CAD and UG soft. Find out the key factors of influencing internal energy loss by analysing the result. On this basis,according to the performance requirements the hydrodynamic torque converter is made modification.,the retrofit design effect is well.The main content of this article:1) Introduces the transmission principle, application scope, research actuality and all kinds of properties of the torque converter.2) Analysis the basic flow equations and design method of the torque converter, establishes the geometric model by Reverse design method3) Extracts the whole flow passage model of the torque converter by UG, import the model into ICEMCFD to mash, get ideal discrete grid.4) Make some assumptions about flow field, set interactive face and boundary conditions, choose appropriate turbulence model for calculating model, set up convergence conditions, adjust the flabby factors, and do the numerical calculation of various working conditions of flow field.5) According to the FLUENT the computed results, labor each work turns’speed and pressure distribution ways under three typical working conditions, and analysis their forming mechanism. Find out the key factors of influencing internal energy loss by analysing the result. On this basis, make modification of the hydrodynamic torque converter6) Prove correctness of three dimensional transient numerical simulation through making overall analysis of the hydrodynamic torque converter and comparing the result to the test result.On this basis, make modification about pump wheel, the result prove that the modificated pump wheel do well.7) Summarize this paper:This topic’research break the original unary beam design theory, put to use3D transient numerical simulation which is more suitable for internal flow of the hydrodynamic torque converter. It can short design cycle, reduce test time, improve design accuracy and improve the transmission efficiency, provide strong technical support to product design and retrofit existing products.
