Continual Power Flow Method is used in this paper to get the PV curve of AC-DC hybrid power system to analyze the system’s static voltage stability. Firstly, the characteristics of the PV curve and its implement methods are presented, and also the drawbacks of conventional implement methods are demonstrated. Then the equations of converter characteristic, system control, system state, network and static power are presented, and the influence of DC system on the AC system is consindered in the conventional power equations to get the power equations of AC-DC hybrid power system. In the progress of drawing the PV curves of AC-DC systems, the regulation of tap position of converter transformers, transformation between various control modes of MIDC and MTDC systems and the protection measure of VDCOL and its start condition are taken into consinderation. In addition, the reactive power limitation of generators is considered by converting the PV-PQ type of buses in the process. Thus, the PV curves and the voltage stability critical point calculated by this advanced CPF method presented in this paper is more valid and practice. Lastly, the static voltage stability of modified IEEE14and IEEE118standard examples are respectly analyzed as MIDC and MTDC AC-DC hybrid power systems by implementing their PV curves.
