Cement concrete pavement occupies a large portion of pavement roads in our country, especially in low-grade roads. We usually set expansion joints or construction joints between concrete slabs, then joint sealants are poured into the cracks in order to get rid of the roadbed stability destruction from the effect done by the water penetrates through the joints. The properties detection about water sealing and fatigue of the sealants becomes important before they are applied into roads. There isn’t any relevant technical standard and specification about guiding the performance testing of the joint sealant in our country now. This paper is proposed aiming to design a reasonable testing program and play a certain role in the establishing of relevant technical standards and specifications. The author gets understandings about the joint sealant situation in our country and abroad to a certain extent after a lot of researches and literature searching. Then the main technical indicators and paper technology roadmap of the joint sealant system of cement concrete pavement are carried out after referring to some domestic and foreign standards and technical requirements in civil engineering and architecture. In order to comply with the actual road scene, during the preparing period of the specimens, the cement concrete mix design method uses the road cement concrete mix design method and the design strength refers to the heavy traffic road design strength. The final mix ratio is determined after some trails and adjustments. According to the most commonly used types of sealants and the actual situation in our country, modified asphalt and polyurethane sealants are decided to be used in the experiments. In water sealing test, a simple test program is designed drawing on part IV of "non-metallic gasket materials classification system and experimental method"(GBT20671.4-2006) on the experimental methods about the seal ability of gasket materials and the leak detection method in canal seepage control project construction specifications (SL18-2004). After the water sealing experiments at room temperature and thermal expansion and contraction conditions, the analysis of the results confirms the test methods to be credible. In fatigue test, learning from part12of the building sealing material test methods (GB/T13477)-"The adhesion test method of the tensile fatigue testing process under the same temperature of the sealant", a fatigue tester is designed and it is used to test the performance of the specimens in groups after the calculated fatigue loading process. The comparison test shows that the test method is feasible.
