There are some failures existing in the subgrade side slope of accomplished advanced highway in our province because of geographical conditions and climate characteristics of HeiLongJing, such as scouring on slope, collapse of superficial layer, and damage or slipping of protection engineering etc. On the one hand, these failures impair directly whole performance and environmentl coordination of highway,on the other hand, these can increase considerably difficulty and cost of curing and maintenance in later stage. Limited to the conditions of region and economy development, like the other areas, the relative researches in our province are generally deficient. Many problems are still to be solve, such as the insufficient protection techniques and regional typical protection model, and random selection of plant type and random determination of gradient of side slope of trench etc. This subject investigated and generalized the type of destroy and the expression form of freeze-thaw collapse of soil road cutting slpoe in seasonal frozen region, the collapsed of HongTong highway as an case base, by way of combined triaxixal shear tests、field monitoring and in-situ test method, studied that the factors of the change of seasonal climate、rainfall precipitation、plants on the slope surface、frost action and freeze layer exist in slope body influence on the cutting slope stability. Using the mechanical model of cutting side slope stability to quantitative analysis the relationship of the safety factor with slope melting depth、soil shear strength、slope gradient and subordinate load of sloping surfaces, determine the influence degree of the several factors in different ranges to the slope stability. The analysis shows that it can effectively reduce the slope loading and slowing down the slope ratio so as to strengthen the safety factor of slope stability. Finally, a finite element model is constructed, and numerical analysis of slope model for stability with different thaw depth in slope bady is carried out. The calculation results show that the maximum anelastic strain distribution in the slope model with different thaw depths after the surface soil body freeze.
