Power distributed automation system is involved with modern electronics technology,communication technology, computer science and networks technology, where online andoffline data, user data, structure and geography information of power distributed system areintegrated. As a completed automation system, it has functions of monitoring, protecting,controlling and power management. The key to realize power distributed system is itscommunication system. As the nervous center, the communication system directly affects thetotal performance of the whole power distributed system. Therefore, we require thecommunication system to be highly stable, credible, extensive and with fast speed and largecapacity.In order to provide such a robust and credible communication system, firstly we shoulddevelop intellectual bottom communication terminals. Thus, on the basis of understanding thestructure, communicating and networking methods, we design an intellectual communicationterminal with multi-interfaces and multi-functions. The paper emphasizes on its hardwaredesign including the controlling module, data collecting module and the communicatingmodule, and also on the design and realization of software framework, communicationprotocols and algorithms for calculating electrical parameters.In the paper, we also research on the cyber security problem of communication system.With more public communicating methods used in the power distributed system, the problemof cyber security threats is paid more and more attention. For defending the main securitythreats, we propose a security strategy based on HMAC algorithm according to the features ofpower distributed system. Experiments demonstrate this strategy can resist major external andinternal security threats, and prove its feasibility and effectiveness.
