When bank slope soaked in water for a long-term, the physi cal and mechanical parameters of rock mass will change, as a resul t,the stability of the bank slope will also change. External factors s uch as water level variation, rainfall, et al, will impact on the stabi lity of the bank slope. In addition to the slope itself factors such a s slope height, slope angle, constitute the physical and mechanical properties of the slope. Western Hunan province is one of the area of red sandstone, but also rich in water resources in Hunan provi nce, there are many small water power plants in western Hunan re gion. So, studies on bank slope stability of red sandstone in wester n Hunan province can provide a theoretical basis for the build of t he small water power plants.In this paper, study to the bank slope of a small water power plants in the Western Hunan after containin g water, carried out the study on the relationgship between bank sl ope deformation and water level, the displacement deformation of b ank slope, stability coefficient and different water levels, by the use of surface subsidence, stratified subsidence, groundwater monitoring methods, circular slip calculation methods and simulation methods of PLAXIS. The main conclusions are as follows.(1) The gravel layer (including clay) of bank slope survey c ome from building the road on the red sandstone mountain, artifici al fill soil compare with building houses on the bank slope, the ba nk slope belongs to the red sandstone slope. Building foundation is not all in the same stratum, the deformation of building foundatio n related to the characteristics of red sandstone and the settlement of differences affect different basis.(2) Housing deformation affected by improper use,state of disr epair, the waterproofing layer aging,design unreasonable, the load is too big and other reasons, but the Housing base softening is the main factors affecting its deformation after the water level rose. (3) The water level rises, the slope soil occurs softened subsid ence, the water level dropped,the settlement has occurred and can n ot be picked up to form a permanent settlement, with the cycle of water level fluctuation, the housing on the bank slope happened to phenomena such as cracking, displacement.(4) Calculation of the different slope profiles in the different water levels shows that the stability coefficient will gradually decre ase sa the water level rises. The analysis shows that,With the rise i n water level, the horizontal, vertical displacement of the bank slop e increasing trend by numerical simulation of the deformation of th e slope at different water levels.(5) Asked the following reinforcement measures, the use of pil es (column) basis instead of the original strip foundation; set the f oundation beam under first floor, grouting process in gravel, stone foundation under the water, closure and drainage measures on the b ank slope...
