Due to own superiority of light weight, high bearing strength, convenient to construct, perfect durability, low construct cost and low repaired cost, Reinforce concrete power poles of ring-shaped cross section is widely used in the power system, railway system and post and telecommunication system. While because of its own material and construction factors, different levels initial damage is exist in concrete structure, it will be developing under the effect of load and external environment, and make the reinforced concrete poles which is in service with varying degrees of damage. So it is an urgent problem to be solved with concrete quality detection, performance assessment and service life prediction. The exploratory research for the strength and defect detection of the circular reinforced concrete poles by the RS-ST01D non-metallic ultrasonic tester is discussed in this thesis. The main research work is as follows:(1) The relationship of acoustic parameters changes with the concrete quality, such acoustic parameters include waveform, amplitude, frequency change and so on. A method which can accurately detect the quality defects properties, location and size of annular concrete poles in theory are put forward, and it has been a very good validation in practical projects.(2) Combined with the test of crack depth for circular concrete poles, puts forward the impact of steel must considered in the research of the relations for ultrasonic wave and the depth of longitudinal cracks.(3) The damage mechanism and variables of annular concrete poles is expounds. Annular concrete pole damage model from the constitutive relation based on the material of the isotropic is established.(4) A method of concrete structure durability life prediction based on reliability is put forward, and the life prediction concept which based on reliability is defined. While the steps of life prediction method has been given, making the structure of the performance level and the corresponding limit state clear. For annular concrete poles’ repair, reinforcement and reconstruction during military service provide reference.The disease of the annular concrete pole is discussed in this thesis, it is hoped that some information can be presented for the further improvement of the related standard and technical procedures of ultrasound method to detect the strength and defects of concrete.
