The designing of cars’ fatigue durability is of great significance to the safety andreliability of the cars, which is one of the major issues of auto industry. Nowadays,auto-body is mainly made by the link of spot welding through metal sheet. Accordingto the statistics, every auto-body includes600~800sheet metal parts and2000~2500spots. So the fatigue of structure and spot is a very important issue in the fatiguedurability of the auto. The traditional fatigue durable design mainly depends onlaboratory test bench experiment or road test to evaluation or improvement, this kindof method is not cost-effective and the cycle lasts long. In this paper, the authorattempts to analyze a crack problem of the front lock of the door in the B-pillar afterthe road test and explore the fatigue situation based on load spectrum which has beenmade during the road test.The major achievements of this paper:(1)Having gotten accurate load spectrum is the first achievement. First-handdata has been collected in the test field, complete experimental steps have beenestablished, collected data have been filtered and some unreasonable spots have beeneliminated by the data processing software, and finally get the load spectrum, whichhas provided a reference for future similar data collecting and processing.(2)Having made basic process of fatigue analysis is another achievement. Staticanalysis has been made for this part by setting up reasonable load conditions. Then, toget the fatigue life distribution map by doing structure Life-cycle analysis and spotwelding fatigue analysis through FATIGUE software. To optimize and improve thestructure, it is necessary to verify the improved result by the finite element analysisagain, until it reaches the design life of the product.This subject belongs to the engineering application subject, which needs in-depthresearch and validation in the body design of the future. It has great practicalsignificance to improve and enhance fatigue durability of the parts.
