Energy is an important factor in the society and economic development. Our country develops in shortage of crude oil and natural gas. Coal plays an important role in the economic development and energy consumption structure in china. Due to the poor quality and the complex components of the local coal used in the coal fired power plant, some problems such as ash deposit and slag will happen in the waterwall and superheated tube surface of the boiler, which are serious threat to the operating security, economic and reliability.The Chinese Shenmu coal was employed as the testing coal in the one dimensional furnace research. The physical and chemical characteristics were analyzed, the components and the melting temperatures of the ash were obtained, the pulverized coal fineness was measured. These works were favorable for the results analysis.One dimensional furnace for the coal combustion and the slag research was built with a lot of research and good design. The one dimensional furnace was a Semi-industrial system. The results obtained from the test produce a favorable effect on the industrial engineering.In the one dimensional furnace, a probe was used to model the waterwall of the boiler, and cooling oil was employed to control the temperature of the probe. Water-cooling CCD was employed to capture the picture of the depositing process on the probe. The results showed that the development of the slag, and a dynamic balance was obtained with the time increased.Three additives with various doses were added in the pulverized coal to investigate the influence of the additive on the slagging process. The shape and textural properties of the slag were obtained in this work. At last, the heat transfer and the effect of the slag on heat transfer was analyzed for different cases.The results show that the additive plays a useful role in reducing the slagging problem during the coal combustion, and it also improves the efficiency of the heat transfer and the results are significant for both the theory research and industrial application.
