This paper describes two foundations which include sloping foundation and inhomogeneous foundation, and then analyzing their bearing capacity based on limit equilibrium theory. Making use of two methods conclude theoretical calculating and numerical simulation to analyze the ultimate bearing capacity of foundation according to multiple engineering conditions. In this paper, there are three parts:(1) Using limit equilibrium theory to deduce calculation formula of sloping foundation bearing capacity, calculating the sloping soils’coefficient of exertion and bearing factor, these two factors play important parts in sloping foundation’s theoretical analyzing and designing.(2) In practical projects, both of natural foundation and artificial foundation all consist of multiple layers. Presently, Hansen’s weighted average method, Whisk’s formula and Meyerhof’s method for two-layer are the general three options for estimating the ultimate bearing capacity of inhomogeneous foundation. Under some complicated conditions, the calculation results are much different from the real, especially in some projects of large construction and high-rise building. Because of this, deep study of failure patterns and ultimate bearing capacity calculations of inhomogeneous foundation should be carried out. Up to now, there is no general applied method to calculate the bearing capacity, so in this paper, deriving general formula to calculate multiple layer foundation bearing capacity based on Meyerhof and Hansen’s method.(3) Using ANSYS to do a simulating analyze to study on the failure mechanics of layered soil foundation. Analyzing the inner stress, deformation, failure patterns, ultimate bearing capacity, then concluding the foundation’s failure mechanics. Comparing simulating results with other two results consist of theoretical part and experimental part. Last, illustrating several problems have not been dealt with in this paper.
