The condition of grounding grid will influence the reliable operation of power systemand the safety of operating staff. Scientific and reasonable testing of grounding grid’s impulsecharacteristic parameters will influence the judgment of the grounding grid’s performance anddefectiveness. The existing tests of substation grounding grid are relatively homogeneous,which primarily judge the grounding grid’s performance by measuring frequency groundingresistance. However,those tests are unable to give a comprehensive evaluation of thegrounding grid’s performance in the impulse environment. In older to solve thedefects of the grounding grid impulse characteristic parametric test,this paper puts forward toa series of integrated methods of testing impulse characteristic parameters of grounding gridand gives a great deal of field tests and deep data analysis of grounding grid’s impulsecharacteristic parameters based on the actual situations.Firstly,test grounding grid’s electrical conduction performance with DC voltage andcurrent method. Based on the measured data to assess the electrical integrity of the actualsubstation grounding grid and analysis of the existing problems.secondly,test the grounding grid’s impulse grounding impedance of different points withthree-pole method based on the impulse of current,do in-depth analysis of test data anddo comparative analysis with other literature and test methods. Proposed a method to measurethe surface potential distribution and gradient under the impulse environment,and do field testin the actual substation with this method to get the surface potential maps of the entiresubstation.This paper analysis the security of grounding grid under the impulse environmentand do comparative analysis with the calculations of power frequency to find the similaritiesand differences.Lastly,this paper presents a method to test the substation secondary equipment to fightback voltage under the impulse current. Using this method to test the actual substation, doin-depth analysis of test data and analysis the security problems of the grounding grid. Providea reference for the standardization of substation secondary equipment fight back voltage’stesting.
