Long-span Steel Truss Arch Bridge has been accepted and applicated by theengineering community in China because of the advantages of low weight, highstrength and stiffness. However, the long span, new technologies and greatdifficulties require higher standard construction monitoring. Bridge constructionmonitoring is set for the ensurance of quality and safety in bridge construction.Technical staffs of construction monitoring team need to analyse the designdrawings carefully, detect various factors influencing safety and stability of thebridge in time, summarize these factors’ effect and solve the potential problems inthe construction process at the first time.The task of bridge construction monitoring is to ensure that stress anddeformation are in the bridge structure’s permissible safety range, to guaranteeconstruction safety and to make sure that completed state of the bridge (includingline shape and internal force state) meet the design requirements.This thesis is to study the technique of stress monitoring for the constructionof a long-span steel truss flexible arch bridge by use of the pushing constructionmethod. We illustrate focuses, difficulties and precautions of stress monitoringthrough calculating stress of various conditions in the construction process,choosing measurement points, analysing stress of temporary pier under the mostunfavorable circumstances, error analysis, etc.. We also explain existing problemsand offer solutions of a bridge and its subsidiary structure in terms of design, makegreat efforts to reduce all kinds of errors by technical strategies, give safetyinstructions for on-site construction in time and provide some theoretical basis forsubsequent construction of a bridge.Through the combination of theory and practice, we provide some referenceand theories in stress monitoring during the construction process for follow-ups ofthe same type of arch bridges with the same construction method.
