During recent30years, along with China’s rapid economic development, the human’s demand of resources is more and more. Today the resources of some land places have been excessive explored, so people began to look for more resources in ocean. This needs the ocean engineering’s construction. For the shallow water area of the coastal engineering and closer coastal engineering, research of sediment transport characteristics in the waves is prime important.The waves, as one of the most important power factors in marine environment, are not only the most common hydraulic phenomenon, but also the most important factors in the sediment transport. Waves can make the sediment lift which is in the shallow water areas. It also can make sediment transport. Moreover the lifting action of waves is the most important links in ocean sediment transport.A lot of results of the study on characteristics of non-cohesive sediment transport under wave action were according to the results of the study on unidirectional current. The particularities of the waves were not delved into the study, so some problems are still not getting good solving.Based on the predecessors’ research results, a systematic experimental study on characteristics of non-cohesive sediment transport under wave action was done by this paper, and the sediment transport theory and its numerical simulation were developed too.Based on the analysis of the volume force under the wave action, considering the volume force, the sediment starting velocity formula is deduced, and it is consistent with the test data. Through the literature about half wave cycle of sediment quantity of sediment transport, and considering the influence of mass transfer speed, get the sediment net transporting formula under wave action. In the physical model test, ADV was used to collect the instantaneous velocity of the surface of the seabed. Detailed data statistics and measure are done for the sediment triggering&transporting under the action of all kinds of waves. In the numerical simulation aspect: the method of source was used to made wave and damped wave, and choose the right turbulent kinetic and energy dissipation rate, turbulent parameters are calculated the surface of bed shear forces.The half experience&half theoretical formula and physical model test data are in good agreement, and which can be used in the practical application of waves to under the action of incipient motion.The style of mutations apart from the nonlinear theory is used to describe the movement of the sediment under the wave action. The theory offered a new solution and new ideas to the study.
