CFRP composite material is a new kind of component which can be combined withconcrete and steel, and it has been widely used in aircraft, space and other constructionalengineering for its high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance. At present, the use ofCFRP in engineering application is mainly in reinforcement of the structure, and CFRP arealways exposed on the surface. Because of its relatively resistance to fire poor, CFRP is difficultto meet the high demand of fire resistance in constructional engineering.This thesis on a new component of Steel-Concrete-CFRP-Concrete solid composite column(abbreviation: SCCC composite column) is researched on mechanical property. The compositionis by external steel tube, annular concrete, CFRP pipe and core concrete. Because of concretebelongs to hot laziness material, in the high temperature annular concrete can protect the CFRPpipe effectively and extend the time of resistant. In this paper it only study mechanical propertiesof component, but it should study further form several aspects which can promote thedevelopment in engineering better.This thesis uses experiment and finite element simulation to research axial load property ofthe new SCCC composite column. It introduces the process of experiment, the design of thecomposite structure, loading method, measurement method, the unit type and the boundarycondition of finite element in detail. The results of experiment show that new SCCC compositecolumn’s axial ultimate bearing capacity become large with the increase of CFRP pipe’s diameter,and explain that CFRP pipes have very good effect on the core concrete. The analysis results offinite element show that the consequences which is calculated by finite element software ofABAQUS match with the experiment results mainly. New SCCC composite column can becarried out numerical simulations by finite element software,as long as to chose the suitable unittype,destructive standard, boundary conditions, and to define the actual material propertieswell. Some large or huge structures which can not achieve by experiments may performnumerical calculations with finite element software.According to the results of experiments and finite element simulations, new SCCCcomposite column’s axis compressive capacity can strengthen with the increase of CFRP pipe’sdiameter. The research results of this paper can provide certain references for application ofSCCC composite column in engineering and further studies on other properties of compositecolumn.
