As a kind of important clean energy, nuclear power has been used extensively by manycountries. However, once the nuclear plant is damaged,it could cause widespread damage.Asone of natural disasters, the earthquake has a tremendous effect on the safety of the nuclearplant. As the final barrier of nuclear reactors, the nuclear containment vessel (NCV) is veryimportant for the safety of the seismic resistance of nuclear reactors. The research of aseismicperformance of the NCV has very obvious significance. The thesis is based on the open fund grants of Institute of Engineering Mechanics,ChinaEarthquake Administration. To summarize the aseismic performance of nuclear reactorcontainment by the shaking table experiment and finite element analysis. The main work ofthe study are as follows:First, the shaking table experiment for the NCV model was carried out.According to thesimilarity theory, the shaking table testing model of the NCV was presented, which made usobtain the seismic response of the NCV by inputting seismic waves of different intensity.Through analyzing the experimental date,we got that in close to magnitude8.0seismicintensity,the NCV is still under basic elastic state and strain is small. The NCV also has greatstiffness which would magnify seismic acceleration waves to some extent. The maximumdisplacement of the NCV vertex is very small relative to the bottom, which indicates that theNCV has great aseismic capability.Secondly, we took the finite element analysis on the NCV model and the analysis resultobtained from the experiment is slightly larger than the measured value. At the sametime, spectral analysis and time-history analysis were carried out,and we found the source oferror by comparing all the above experimental result. Finally, we took the push-over analysis on the prototype of the NCV with imposinguniformly distributed load, inverted triangular load and secondary load in order to get acomprehensive assessment of the actual anti-seismic capacity of the NCV. The conclusion isthat the experiment result of push-over analysis is similar to the result of spectral analysis andtime-history analysis. In this thesis, based on the shaking table test on the model of the NCV and the finiteelement analysis on the NCV, the aseismic performance of the prototype and the model of the NCV was studied and structural response of the NCV was obtained comprehensively inspectral analysis,time-history analysis and push-over analysis. The thesis provides a goodreference for aseismic analysis of the NCV.
