In recent years, with the strong development of urban rail transit, coupled withthe increasing of tunnel boring technology, which create the timing and conditions forthe applications of rectangular pipe jacking. Rectangular pipe jacking method beganto be applied in the field of rail transportation, especially in the design andconstruction of the structure of the entrance channel of the trunk road. Compared withcircular cross section, the effective use of the area of rectangular cross section isusually more than20%, but the rectangular pipe jacking construction will inevitablygenerate disturbances to the surrounding soil, and cause surface subsidence or uplift.Since rectangular pipe jacking construction mainly concentrate in the downtown areaof the city, and the underground pipelines are often much more, large deep soildisplacement will lead to the deformation and failure of underground pipelines.In this paper, three-dimensional Finite Difference Method was used to studyground movement and the impact on the neighboring underground pipeline caused bythe rectangular pipe jacking construction,and get some meaningful conclusions. Themain contents of this paper are as follows:1. The characteristics of rectangular pipe jacking technology were summarizedand analyzed. the disturbance characteristics of the surrounding soil and undergroundpipelines during rectangular pipe jacking construction were explored.2. The simulation theory of rectangular pipe jacking construction was explored,and its procedures were simulated and analyzed by software FLAC-3D.3. Analysis of the soil and adjacent underground pipeline deformation and stressdistribution characteristics caused by the rectangular pipe jacking construction werecarried out, and considering the influence of different factors on the undergroundpipelines.4. Investigating the failure mode and control standards of the undergroundpipeline, combined with the rectangular pipe jacking construction technology, theprotection measures of underground pipeline were analyzed.
