As an important Part of vehicle assembly,frame bears various complex loadsIncluding from the road and assembly,therefore,the structure design of the frameis crucial in auto motive design. The Performance analysis and topologicaloptimization of frame structure with the finite element method,can enhance thevehicle static and dynamic performance,and can acquire the optimal distribution ofmaterial while improving the structure and properties of materials.In this paper, based on a frame of a light truck,the finite element model inshell elements is established by using Hypermesh. The frame structure stiffnessproperties and modal performance calculated finite element analysis and Verify thestiffness of the frame and modal characteristics is comply with the designrequirements, and find what shortage.. Further more, the Optistruct optimizationtechnology——topological optimization method based on FEM is employed toredesign the topological structure of the frame. Some static and dynamicinformation about the optimized frame is gained to have the best frame structureand give some instructive suggestion for the design of new frame.This paper studies show that the original frame the stiffness of the light carperformance meet the design requirements, modal analysis shows that the originalframe the dynamic characteristics of the whole is basically meet the designrequirements. Optimization analysis showed that the topology optimization, theframe to the static and dynamic characteristic parameters except the bendingrigidity are improved to varying degrees. Among them, the torsional rigidity tofurther improve, first order torsional frequency increases. In conclusion, inengineering practice, based on the finite element method of topologicaloptimization technology application in frame design is feasible, using thetechnology can greatly improve the overall performance of the frame, and furtherperfect design of subsequent can through the size and the shape of the optimizationof lightweight design again.
