High strength concrete is more and more applied in high-rise and super high-risebuildings. The application and promotion of high concrete saved resources and energy andbring good economic benefits and social benefits. But with the increase of concrete strength, behavior and failure mechanism of high strength concrete and ordinary concrete specimensmay differ, and it is necessary to carry out systematic experimental study. In order to study the shear performance of high-strength concrete and beamswithout web reinforcement,6beams with different shear span ratio were testedunder the concentrated load. The whole process from the appearance of cracks tobreakage of the beams be observed, the strain of main reinforcement, the strain ofconcrete, deflection and shear capacity were analyzed. Then, the test results werecompared with the shear strengths predicted by China Code and ACI code. Theresults showed that Code equation underestimate shear strength of beams of smallerspan-to-depth ratios and overestimate shear strength of beams of largerspan-to-depth ratios. Some of the current high strength concrete beams without webreinforcement test data was collected to verify this conclusion. The non-linearanalysis about high-strength concrete beams without web reinforcement was carriedout by ANSYS finite element analysis software. By comparing the results with thetest results, the ANSYS numerical model and parameters was verified reasonablyand feasibly.
