This article comes from a school-enterprise cooperation projects. The article study on the benchmarking model of a light truck, based on sensitivity theory the cab of the static strength and the low order mode frequency is optimized, the purpose of improving body strength and vibration damping is achieved. In addition, crash simulation of the cab is carried on, cab structure is analyzed and evaluated from the perspective of passive safety, and then the structure design is optimized. In this paper, the main work what has done are as follows:1、Solid model was exported from CATIA and preprocessed in HYPERMESH, the finite element model of the light truck cab was established.2、Based on the finite element model, the component’s static mechanical properties of actual working conditions was analyzed in the OPTISTRUCT, which reflected the distribution and regularity of the stress. Then the sensitivity analysis based on the strength of the sheet metal thickness is carried on, according to sensitivity analysis results, the high sensitivity ones are identified and optimized. Compare the maximum stress of the model before and after optimization, which verifies the feasibility of optimization methods.3、The numerical modal of the cab was calculated. Then, do experimental modal analysis of the finite element model and identify the experiment test data, find out the cab’s modal frequencies and mode shapes. Compare the difference of experimental modal and numerical modes, which testified that the simulation results are credible.4、Analysis the natural frequency of the main light trucks subsystem and the main excitation source. Using the modal matching analysis method to analyze the modal characteristics of the truck cab and determine engine incentives is main source for vibration; using modal sensitivity analysis methods the first-order modal frequency of the cab is optimized.5、Modify the pre-established cab finite element model, build the collision simulation model, do pendulum in collision simulation operator in LS-DYNA. Analysis of simulation results, aimed at structural changes.In this paper, based on the finite element theory and sensitivity analysis methods, we got an effective way to optimize the body structure, a new analysis concept for the development of light truck, trying to improve the structure from the passive safety way.
