Body is an important part of the automotive, of which the structure design will have agreat influence on the key performance, such as NVH and Crashworthiness of the full carfor a newly developed light bus. Research on the body structure of the car is becomingmore developed. However, there is no perfect and complete design guidelines for the lightbus load type body which is rare in the domestic market. Thus it is very necessary toresearch the body structure of light bus.Based on finite element analysis method, the author builds finite element model ofthe light bus body structure by software NASTRAN. Then light bus body structuredynamic characteristics are studied by extracting the modal frequencies and modal vectorsof the body finite element model. According to the analysis results and NVH performancerequirements, the body structure related to the whole vehicle is evaluated and improved. Amodal test is performed in order to investigate the effect of the modification and validatethe final body structure proposal. In addition, a special finite element model of this lightbus for crash simulation is built by the well-known explicit dynamic solver softwareLS-DYNA. The body structure crashworthiness is researched by simulating the scenario of50KPH100%frontal crash for the vehicle. The final design scheme is proposed and crashtest is performed to validate the effect of the modification. Finally, response surfacemethod is adopted to solve a multi-objective optimization problem of the door structure toensure that the door structure design quality.By applying the advanced CAE analysis technology to the development of theautomotive products. the time of design cycles can be significantly shortened, and thenumber of trials can be reduced to decreae the development costs.
