Pavement materials distribute nonuniform is one of the main reasons for early damage ofasphalt pavement. There are many research for the degree of homogeneity of pavement havecarried out at home and abroad, which mainly concentrated in judgment methods, testingequipment and evaluation criteria, All of these belong to macro analysis. It is difficult toresolve from the source of pavement materials distribute nonuniform problem. For moreeffective improve the degree of homogeneity of pavement materials, the main purpose of thispaper is to study the mechanism of pavement materials distribute nonuniform, the impact ofmaterial properties on homogeneity of pavement materials from the motion characteristics ofparticles based on granular material characteristics.In order to reduce the phenomenon of pavement materials distribute nonuniformessentially. Combined with the production process of pavement materials, this paper designsimulation experiment based on granular material characteristics. By analyzing the changecondition of gravity center of pavement materials during the process of vibration,summarizing the rule of movement found: the main movement mechanism of asphaltpavement is convection mechanism; the main movement mechanism of graded broken stonepavement is permeation mechanism; the main movement mechanism of cement pavement isgeometry filling mechanism.According to the numbers and position of particles which distribute in the mixtures, thispaper put forward the index of homogeneity of pavement materials, the influence factors arestudied of the index of homogeneity of pavement materials, The test results are as following:Aggregate particles size influences evidently the index of homogeneity of asphalt pavement,and with the increase of aggregate nominal maximum size homogeneity of asphalt pavementwill become worse. Asphalt content and aggregate gradation influences remarkably the indexof homogeneity of asphalt pavement; temperature take the second place, influences of asphaltlabel are not significant. And on the basis, this paper put forward the corresponding measuresto ensure the homogeneity of the pavement.
