As the automobile industry flourish developed and the automobile retain quantityquickly increased, China is becoming an automobile society. The automobile’s exhaustemission has become the major part of the pollutant in the city’s atmosphere. In order toreduce pollution, to achieve continuable development, China began to implement stage Ⅲemission regulation in2008.Most of the diesel engines in China market are still the low cost2valves per cylinderlayout. If we upgrade all these engines to4valves per cylinder according to advancedcountry’s experience, it would be too difficult to be done by diesel engine producerthemselves neither financially nor technically, and the expensive electronic controlinjection system like the unit-pump, the pump-injector or common rail system remarkablyrise the cost of the whole engine assembly, it’s hard to accept by most customers in China.Either diesel engine industry or fuel injection industry are in dire need develop a methodthat can satisfier stage Ⅲ emission regulation and comparatively low cost. To solve thisissue, this thesis provide a system composed by enhanced inline pump plus electronicgovernor plus cool EGR to achieve stage Ⅲ emission regulation, and do not requireconsiderable modification in the engine. Therefore, provide a method that is low cost andhigh efficient for these diesel engines to upgrade to stage Ⅲ emission regulation.Base on analysis of the structure and performance of the original engine, guiding bytheory and successful experience of the similar engine, the thesis make improvementdesign of air intake/exhaust system, fuel injection system and combustion chamber, andeach in reasonable range choose several parameters to be manufactured. Use3D CFDsoftware STAR-CD calculated the air flow movement、fuel spray and combustion process tooptimize the design and thus can reduce the development time. The main part of the thesis lies in the13-mode ESC emission test. Analysis of theresults of the emission test to find out the principle of the parameter influence to engine emission and performance, then find out the optimize combination. At last engine emissionupgrade to stage Ⅲ emission regulation and reach the goal of the project.
