Abstract/Summary:
The scour depth around bridge piers and the wave-current forces are two importantfactors to the safy of river/sea-crossing bridges,so it’s necessary to evaluate preciselythe scour depth and the wave-current forces for the safety and economy of the bridgeconstruction.This thesis reviewed the research on scour around piers and wave-current forces onoffshore structures at home and abroad,and pointed out that in the actual oceancondition, numerical simulation of scour depth around piers and wave-current forces isvery complex, on the other hand simulation accuracy need to be improved. Therefore,the physical model tests to determine how a variety of oceanographic factors affect thescour depth and the wave-current forces are very important and necessary.This thesis studied the scour depth around complex pier foundation of bridge pierand wave-current forces on various components of bridge pier in Quanzhou Bay Bridgeby the methods of physical model tests. Firstly introduced the engineering backgroundof Quanzhou Bay Bridge; including seabed topography in the project area, hydrologicalconditions and the bridge structure type and so on, then selected the typical bridgepiers.By using movable bed normal model, the thesis designed the physical model ofscour and wave-current forces based on gravity similar criteria and selected the modelsand based on starting velocity similar criteria.By advanced measurement tools, pierscour depth was measured under30kinds of tide types and wave conditions,as well asthe wave-current forces on the piers in224kinds of different conditions.Scour depth ofrepresentative bridge piers in different sections were tested, then analyzed the depth ofthe limit equilibrium of pier scour and its pattern and scope. And that the300-yearreturn wave-type condition should serve as a bridge-based scour control conditions waspointed out.In the basis of local scour model test, horizontal wave force and theuplifting forces on the pier stem, pile cap and pile group were test,as well as themaximum total horizontal forces on the whole pier.
