The flood operation system, as a non-structure method to effectively reduce thedegree of flood’s damage and the loss caused by flooding, plays a more and moreimportant role in flood control and disaster reduction in recentyears. With the completion and operation of the Three Gorges Reservoir, this dam hasperformed as a prominent regulation on the upstream and downstream. Therefore, arational and scientific scheduling of Three Gorges Reservoir is the key for theupstream and downstream to survive the flood season. However, according to currentscience and technology, reservoir operation has too much uncertainty limited by thelow precision of the water rainfall regime forecast.Taking the flood control operation of the three gorges reservoir as an example,the article preliminarily studies the integration of reservoir operation system with theapplication of the digital watershed technology. First, this article analyzes the runoffchange influenced by the built of three gorges reservoir and the influence of theoperation of Three Gorges Reservoir on the process of the storage of runoff. On thisbasis, it applies the basin distributed hydrological model (GBHM),which is based onthe geomorphic characteristics,to the simulation of the rainfall-runoff process of theThree Gorges interval, this model considers the impact different vegetation and soiltypes has on the hillside runoff within the convergence interval, therefore it can betterdescribe the hydrological spatial characteristics of the study area. Then it simulatesYangtze River in the flood routing process of the Three Gorges interval withone-dimensional hydrodynamic model, which takes the simulation results of theGBHM as input data. The above two model subsystems are coupled with reservoiroperation model system to become a preliminary integrated reservoir operationsystem. This preliminary integrated system of reservoir operation can completelysimulate a series of process like rainfall runoff, slope convergence, flood routing, andreservoir operation in study area.
