| Ancient villages are the outcome of human activities and specific geographicalenvironment, and an element of social-cultural phenomenon. The evolvement of spaces invillages is actually the evolvement of historical culture. Thus, traditional villages do notexist as individuals, they usually gathered within a certain area in a certain correlated form,whose formation is closely related to geographical and regional social-culturalenvironment. The correlationships of villages are found in varies of places in China, suchas Diaolou in Kaiping of Guangzhou Province, Tulou in Fujian Province, Tunbu inAnshun, ancient villages in Huizhou and Qinhe River valley, which are called traditionalgroup in academia. Based on the definition of group on which studies are mainly aboutspaces, this article introduces the propulsion of its formation and development, defines theexistence pattern of this inner relationship as cluster. At the same time, it brings outmethods of cluster-protection of villages, builds up multi-level conservation system aswell as consummates the theory of regional heritage conservation, on the foundation ofmacro-level-theories of heritage conservation such as heritage area, heritage corridorand culturalroutes.Taking traditional settlements in Qinhe River valley as objects of study, this articlestudies the context of formation, evolving progress, historical propulsion of thesettlements as well as historical spaces of clusters of ancient villages. Meanwhile, Itsummarizes the remaining patterns, environmental features and spatial characters andpoints out current problems, based on which it analyses the feasibilities of gathering ofancient villages in Qinhe River valley, explores its gathering patterns and routes,constitutes cluster conservation system, and finally brings forward a multi-levelconservation strategy of the cluster in Qinhe River valley and consummates its heritageconservation system to promote the proper conservation and development of the ancientvillages there. |
