Removing dimethylarsenic acid by zirconium nano-sized particle was explored inthese experiments. We also did some research on the use of this kind of nano-particle byputting them on the activated carbon fiber by citosan and PEG. Through the experiments,we found that this sorbent was good at removing the organic arsenic, but due to its smallsize, it was difficult for using in the reality. So we put them on the activated carbon fiberto remove the inorganic arsenic. In all these experiments, the main results of this study areshown as follows:(1) Through the adsorption experiments, we found that the adsorption effect of thissorbent is highly pH effect, and the optimal pH of this sorbent for organic arsenic removalis3.5. In the isotherm study, we found that the Langmuir model is more fitted to ourisotherm curve and the maximum adsorption capacity of organic arsenic is55.08mg/g.Through the kinetics study, the adsorption became balance after24hours that means itneed24hours to reach balance. In the co-existing anions experiments, we found the effectof four common anions of the adsorption.(2) Through the XPS and FTIR experiments, we found whether the arsenic wasadsorbed on the sorbent.(3) Using CTS and PEG to put the sorbent on the activated carbon fiber. Using theorthogonal array to determine the best ratio of the CTS、PEG and sorbent and alsodetermine the kind of the CTS.(4) Using the modified activated carbon fiber to remove the inorganic arsenic throughpH effect, isotherm, kinetics experiments and co-existing experiments.
