Slamming loads is a highly nonlinear and transient load. When slamming occurred, thehull will suffer the tremendous local impact, and the impact will have a great influence onhull structure. In this paper, we consider slamming situation, and calculate the nonlinearship motion in waves, and empolder a new procedure to calculate motion responseincluding the feedback effect of slamming load. This mainly includes the followingaspects.Firstly, Based on the non-linear strip theory, the paper gives dynamic equations underthe wave load considering the coupling effects between heaving and pitching motion. Weget the responses of heaving and pitching motion under different wave angles in timearea, and we also get the shearing force on some transverse sections.Secondly, Based on the experiential formula from Ochi bottom slamming test, theslamming coefficient of some transverse sections of a surface ship is calculated, and theslamming loads and the place where slamming is to occur under different frequencies arestudied. Considering the slamming effect in a short time,we get the responses of heavingand pitching motion under different wave angles in time area, and we also get the shearingforce on some transverse sections.Lastly, we empolder a new procedure to calculate motion response including thefeedback effect of slamming load. This is a new method to calculate the motion responsein time area. The result shows that the ship is more prone to get bottom slamming at lowfrequencies, and the instantaneous slamming impact cannot be ignored.
