With the rapid development of expressway, national expressway network has beeninitially formed. However, the development of service facilities as "Transport Nodes" in theexpressway network has been lagging behind the expressway construction development.Construction situation of the expressway service facilities can not meet the growing serviceneeds, and the operating conditions can not achieve the desired goal of the project feasibilitystudy stage, so it has become the burden of expressway operations. The relevant provisions ofthe expressway service facilities planning and design is less and not detailed enough innational transport industry standards. Therefore, It is very necessary to study the expresswayservice facilities technical standards, and it helps to improve National transport industrystandards.On the basis of a large collection of related data and documents as well as surveying onseveral service areas, and based on home and abroad research theory study and analyzestatistically the key technical standards: setting conditions, layout form, overall scale, ramptechnical indicators.This paper studies the setting conditions of service facilities by quantifying the impactfactor, and analyzes the calculation model of the driving distance in case of low fuel, andderives the recommended value of setting conditions. At the same time, this article analyzesthe basic principles of the service facility location in the perspective of qualitative. Secondly,the facilities layout form were classified from the professional point of expressway, andanalysis of the characteristics and applicability of the different forms. Proposed a commonform of merge setting of Service facilities and Interchange. Thirdly, based on the coefficientof elasticity theory and statistical principles, the paper analyzes the main parameters of theservice area scale, and proposed the calculating method of the overall scale. Finally, throughsurveying statistical vehicle speed on the exit ramp, and draw out the speed cumulativedistribution curve to determine the design speed of the ramp. Meantime studies the trafficflow characteristics of the triage area and the confluence area according to the on-siteobservation and data analysis. And apply the second deceleration theory to study the length ofthe deceleration lane, while apply the insert gap theory to determine the length of theacceleration lane.
