Body structure, as one of the four car assembly, should ensure rigidity and strengthrequirements beside good appearance and spacious passenger space. Insufficient bodystructure stiffness would affect the performance of the car. So it is necessary to do the bodystructure analysis during the early stages of automotive design. Finite element analysis is amethod that calculates continuum discredited into a finite number of units, and it is widelyapplied to the body structure analysis.Detailed finite element model, the static stiffness and modal finite element analysis ofbody structure to a domestic brand car body structure was made in this paper and we obtainedthe finite element analysis values. By comparing the theoretical analysis with experimentalresults, the accuracy of the finite element model was verified.Another focus of this paper is the optimizing of body structure design. There are twomain stages, sensitivity analysis and optimization of the design. Select38parts from the bodystructure to carry out a sensitivity analysis to identify the parts of the body structure that needto be strengthen. Prerequisite the minimum the body mass, select the components ofsensitivity analysis which is sensitive to the body structure torsional stiffness, bendingstiffness, the first order Reversing frequency of the vehicle and the first order bendingfrequency of the vehicle as design variables to optimize the body structure. In this way wereduced the quality of the body and at the same time enhanced the static stiffness, the firstorder torsional frequency and the first bending frequency of the body, finally achieved thedesired objectives.
