In recent years, widening highway tunnel is becoming mainstream along with thedevelopment of national economy. There is little research about it at home and abroad. Thispaper, whose study object is Haizhongzhou tunnel in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, focuseson mechanical behavior of widening highway tunnel based on the quondam characteristicsthrough model test and simulation analysis. The writer has done model test on9kinds ofdisease conditions and simulation analysis on15kinds of disease conditions, based on thecoincidence of the centre of road is coincidence before and after widening. The writer hasalso contrasted them to the widening which has no disease conditions. The importantconclusions are as follows:1. In the construction of winding highway tunnel, the mechanical behavior of tunnellining and surrounding rock which has some disease conditions is similar to the one whichhas no disease condition, and it effects mainly the construction of top step.2. The effect on mechanical behavior of construction about disease condition from big tosmall in order as:the cavity of surrounding rock in hance, the insufficient strength of lining inhance, the insufficient strength of lining in invert, the cavity of surrounding rock in invert.3. The cavity of surrounding rock in hance is the main influence factor on surroundingrock deformation.4. The insufficient strength of lining has shorter influence time on construction than thecavity of surrounding rock.5. The influence distance in the front of heading face is51m to54m on construction inHaizhongzhou tunnel, and the safe distance is60m or longer when it has more than oneconstruction face.
