Radiation collector well is new water intake engineering. It is widely used in recent years. Theradial collector well with its high yield, low consumption, good management, the relativelylow water-supply cost and others advantages was recognized and widely used in arid andsemi-arid areas like the Northern Shaanxi. The corresponding calculation model also gotcertain development. However, however, limitations of this existing model are discoveredincluding: the model has a great number of nodes; when there are two or more radial collectorwells working together, there will be too many nodes to calculate effectively; the modelcannot depict the irregular distribution of radiating bores accurately and so on. Thesedisadvantages limit the application of the model. So, the study of the modified calculationmodel is very significant.This thesis relies on the China National Natural Science Foundation “Study on thecalculation model and physical modeling of non-casting-well groundwater-collectingstructure working mechanism”. Based on the theory of coupled seepage–pipe flow model putforwarded by Chenchongxi, the groundwater in the well pipe and around the well aresimulated object. The boundary of the model moved to the wellhead of the well, therefore theflow distribution and the head distribution of filter wall are both the simulation results,without need to artificially given. The well pipe system is conceptualized as a discrete conduitnetwork which consists of pipes and nodes. Using the exchange flow rate between the aquiferand the well pipe as the couple key, the discrete well pipe and the finite-difference grid arecoupled and the modified calculation model of radial collector well is set up.In this thesis, the well pipe is separated. Using the exchange flow rate between theaquifer and the well pipe as the couple key, the number of the nodes reduced greatly. Becausethe modified calculation model has fewer nodes, when two or more radial collector wellswork together, we can also calculate the results effectively. In the modified calculation model,the character of radiating bores can be depicted accurately. When calculating the exchangeflow between pipe and aquifer, the permeability of the screen or wall material of radiatingbores is considered and irregular distribution of the radiating bores is well conceptualized. The modified calculation model was used to calculate the reasonable groundwater yieldof radial collector well in the Qiangtou water source, Fugu County, Shaanxi Province, China.The pumpage of each radial collector well were calculated by the modified calculation model,and the best exploiting plan had been chosen. And we also compared the calculation of theradiation well with the calculations of general large-diameter wells. Based on the calculationresults, the best exploiting plan and the newly reasonable yield are also proposed, which aresignificant for the reasonable exploitation of groundwater in this region.
