Offshore Support Vessels perform both transportation and operation functions in offshore industry. They are usually equipped with dynamic positioning system to maintain the station keeping capability during the multi-vessel operation process. The safety requirement is very critical for OSV operation.In this paper, a time-domain simulation approach for OSV station keeping operation was established in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The time-domain numerical results were concurrently transferred into visualization package Vega Prime to accomplish the virtual operation control.Application of the above virtual platform into the typical gangway operation simulation of the case vessel’Runjiang No.1’is successful. The complete time-domain results are valuable for assessments of the vessel operation capability and safety. They are also helpful for operator virtual training and operation procedure optimization.The application results demonstrate the functions of the established simulation and visualization platform. The safety and efficiency of OSV operations could be improved effectively.
